Multi-tasking??

Look, I know that we're all workaholics who don't have any time to pet the cat, fondle the girlfriend, or go to the nudie bar; and, forget about "quality time" with any children that you may have spawned or inherited.

But, really, do we need this????

A Better Burger???

A good friend of mine runs a great site called http://phude-nyc.com/. His missives and observations on the New York food scene are great, but I don’t think that even he has seen this compilation.

Now, we’ve all watched those “colossal” food programmes on Food Network and cringed and exclaimed about the world’s largest burger, the longest hero sandwich, the spiciest Texas chili, the world’s most bizarre foods, the greasiest diner, etc. As novelties go, all of these things are great. Some of these “creations” really show how far some people are willing to go in order to make their mark on the world, and this includes consumers as well.

The mere fact that people are willing to subject themselves to “competitive eating” extravaganzas, where gluttony is relished, only helps to promote such healthy fare as the “KFC Double Down” as one of the most heart-wrenching, quite literally, eating habits.

For real insight, “Hungry Planet: What The World Eats” by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio is the real deal. This book showcases 30 different families in 24 different countries shopping, farming, cooking, and eating. It examines every vegetable peeled, every beverage poured, every package opened. They photographed and documented all of this including the total costs.

This book came out in 2005, and the results, to say the least, were fascinating. It really puts things into perspective.

And, this is why you're fat.

So, What's For Dinner????

Well, the good folks over at Kraft Foods have have teamed up with Intel, the chip maker (NOT the Toll House cookies, you dolt!) to come up with a scanning kiosk that looks you up and down, roots through your wallet (much like the TSA), and suggests recipes, products, and other Kraft necessities to feed your family while you're wandering aimlessly through your local Über-Mart.

Yikes!
